Practically the only things I have to say are about birds, which people must be finding very dull by now. I did make it to Treefest at the weekend and saw ropemaking and tree climbing and some model boats (and birds) and gave some feedback to the core paths initiative (about the places I walk to watch birds). And today I bit the bullet and went for my smear test, which I'm sure you don't want to know any more about (and saw ten species with the naked eye just round the cathedral.)

I saw a kingfisher on Sunday - bloody hell they move fast!

Music is the most beautiful thing in the world. Because it can activate the bits of my brain that feel all the other things of beauty and it can do it at any time.

And The Cat Empire's Misere is almost religious. In fact it's anti-religion religious and I now feel the urge to collect some other such songs into a play list. Such as Yello's Domingo. Hmm. And No God, No Religion, and The Gates to the Garden. Are there any other candidates? There's a JAmes song but I can't remember which one so I have to listen to them all again. Which I can bear.

Other good things include new red hair, getting round to cleaning and making soup, and actually getting consulted about some stuff at work. Also doing Beltane stuffs and having ideas about events later in the year.

Also Prefab Sprout's Electric Guitars is happy and sweet and charming and I am not ashamed. (Actually I've already started a playlist called 'Poptastic Shame', which is where I think it belongs...)

I must go to bed now before I make of a idiot of myself :-)

What have I done lately?

Went to the Movement and Shadows exhibition at the museum with Sandy on Saturday. Marvelous mechanical mice! (well, rats), Depressing Russian music! Themes of death and oppression! All in 25 minutes. which is a bit short, but I got it half price 'cos of the Art Fund membership my mum got me.

On Monday I watched Life on Mars, which is pretty enjoyable, plus Balderdash and Piffle is available on Telewest replay, so I get to watch it later. Hurrah for Replay being useful for one whole thing!

Plus I'm supposed to be going to Brokeback Mountain tonight for free. And there's smoke making on Saturday, though I may let the weather decide that one for me, for I am a wuss.

It is impossible to select a top five tunes for audiography.

And overall I'm a lot happier than I was at this time last year, proving that a combination of sunlight lamp and working over the Xmas gap is doing some good...

An I got a ikkle baby bunny icon! look! Issa bunny!

Today I shall be mostly feeling shit because I still have a horrible chesty cough after over a week (over two weeks since the cold started.) And I'm not even sure I will be well enough to go to Gigantor. I shall probably go anyway, but it would be unwise to stay out late or drink much. A couple of hours in a smoky pub last night made me feel much worse, which is not a good sign :-(

And in spite of feeling crap I still have to do loads of stuff in my house, like put all the clean clothes away that are making my room effectively a quarter of its useful size, and shower, and make soup for next week so all the good healthy veg I bought doesn't go to waste, and knit like a bastard since everyone wants stuff off me, which is great, but there's only so much crap TV a rabbit can watch...

I hate the LJ holiday banner, BTW - what about you?

So I need hugs. Or not actually hugs but some other vurtual token of my LJ chums affaction, like virtual cocktails of dubious ingredients, virtual cuddly toys with strange hats or maybe a very small dinosaur. Go on - make stuff up to entertain me, you know you want to...

Also a way to cook yam would be helpful, since I stupidly bought one...

Recently life has included:

  • I have met a chocolate fountain and it was good
  • dipping beef in said chocolate fountain - surprisingly nice with black pepper and lime
  • trying to list all the books I ever read for some unknown reason
  • quails eggs and lobster and insane amount of free booze
  • making smokers run
  • OMG I am full of sausages!
  • staying awake to finish The System of the World
  • Oh noes! It's the punks again!
  • toilet tig
  • a surprising lack of ball gags

    Not necessarily in that order.

Alison wants to visit 24 places - damn, now I have to make a list
Alison wants a man that will take her - Oh, OK then
All Alison wants is a puppy for her birthday - no, no dogs
Alison wants to do 42 things - and another list coming up
Alison wants only to move from text to application - eh?
Alison wants to take a holiday - oh yes
Alison wants a Chow! - I said no dogs
Alison wants to run laps around the back patio - no, not as such.

Hmm, so 24 places ad 42 things, eh?

Places Alison wants to visit - Barcelona, Eden in Cornwall, Orkney, Shetland, Tangier, Oporto, Rome, Dublin, Damascus if it's ever safe, Istanbul, New Orleans when they fix it, Kynance Cove in Cornwall, Avignon, Vienna, Tokyo with someone who knows it, Athens, Copenhagen, Iceland, New York, Amsterdam again, Berlin again, Niagara Falls, Rio, Brasilia

Things Alison wants to do - write a novel, see the Northern Lights, DMT, get a house with a garden and stuff, win the lottery, have good hair, have a date with a gigolo, read Thud, learn to knit in circles, get the bloody bathroom fixed, ditto the bloody boiler, get a new bed, go in a hot spring, eat steak, get taken to a posh restaurant, learn to make chilli with mole, learn to drum GOOD, have a part in Beltane where I can show my tits, lose at least a couple of stone, be fitter, get a new kitchen, watch Mirrormask, get a copy of Anansi Boys, visit London people again, help at BiCon again, learn to write hieroglyphics, stay with Jon, finish my cardigan, sell some clothes, have a mega fortieth birthday party, be better at keeping up with my friends, go home and drink beer, paint my room, get rid of one sofa, move somewhere with more space for books, fit an inline switch to my clay lamp, sand my coffee table, tell my boss to stuff it, learn to bead weave and make a necklace, be the centre of a web, be able to be normal, be proud to be weird.
