Today is Imbolc - and tonight is a club and performance of some kind at the club formerly known as The Left Bank in Hasties Close (between Guthrie Street and the Cowgate). It starts at 10pm and it's not licensed so it's byob. There is a suggested £3 donation on the door.

I am sad to have missed National Gorilla Suit day.

Oh and Neil Gaiman wants me to say Penn Jillette, which I am happy to do as Penn rocks and I have just been pointed at all his free radio shows on iTunes, which will keep me happy all day...

The feast went well! We fed 120 people until they were fll and the food was nice and we didn't make anyone ill and the pig looked very impressive and people danced and I drummed and overall we generally ruled!

And I've been dreaming about the cooking for two nights since.

On the 20th I met with Davey my lovely van driver and collected tables and chairs from two places and left them in the van and got taken to Tesco by zotz who helped me shop for starter ingredients and collect the hire glasses and left those in his car and packed a suitcase of things for the Hall and did relaxation exercises. I even found time to finish dying my hair, which was a matter of great importance, as you can imagine.

I then got about seven hours sleep and woke at 8am, as I have been recently, whether I like it or not. Not a huge amount, but enough to keep me vaguely sane. ( lj-cut for a long day )

Quite a lot of things are quite good:

• I have recruited a new assistant who will start in just over a week
  
• Drumming happened last night and made me feel good
  
• Solstice is slowly coming together and no-one is angry with me about it yet.
  
• Free apples = applesauce in quantity
  
• I have an excuse to practise my mulled punch recipe
  
• I am working on two scrafs and have plans for two more
  
• Working toward Solstice means I am wonderfully aware of how soon the sun will start creeping back
  
• Work is moving relatively calmly towards the quiet patch
  

I do love organising things, and I love Beltane people to listtle squishy paint-covered bits, honestly, but sometimes working with hippies who all communicate in different ways can be *tiring* ya know? Right now I have a team, some if whom don't read/get my email, some don't have mobiles, some work shifts, some have mobiles but have no credit and can't reply to texts or listen to their messages and some just carry on their own sweet way without feeding back and all of whom can make meetings on different days of the week. Aaaarrrgh!

So, tell me, what would you serve for very cheap 'nibbles' given that there's going to be a lot of food but people still like nibbles?
