ciphergoth being in London and Sandy being at work, so me and Jon got Unbreakable out on video. If any of you haven't seen it it's thoroughly excellent - kind of slow at first, but with some incredibly arty shots and interesting ideas. The whole thing ties together very nicely without ever leaving the realistic world it's set in, and as a comic book it would rock! (Something by Dave McKean, maybe.)
Saturday I pottered about and did some shopping, including finally getting Book 3 of Halo Jones (admittedly I had to buy them all in one volume - does anyone want a copy of Books 1 and 2?). Then I went round Emmental to veg for a bit and pick up the skirt I plan on wearing to the masque at BiCon, before going to an ACE social event (Edinburgh anarchists and other reprobates). I had a lot of fun there, and saw quite a few people I haven't seen for a while, but discovered that drinking three pints can cause me to screw up my calorie count - not through lack of will power, but lack of maths! Fortunately that last half didn't cause me to go too far over, and I made it up the next day.
Sunday I learnt that I would not enjoy living in The 1900 House when I had to wash me and my hair in a basin. I actually brought a tub full of water into my room and set it up on a small table, as it was easier to get at than the sink. All I needed was one of those ewers they had... Jon has now fixed our shower so that it (hopefully) doesn't cause rain to happen in the downstairs flat, so we just have to wait for the grout to dry now.
Other than that I had a lovely time doing nothing at all and, above all, not being at work. I think I'm going to need all the energy I saved this week, as we're allegedly moving to our new room on Friday. Joy.
