Well I am back at work and feeling much more functional. I have re-realised that I do have many coping mechanisms for depression, including such slightly unorthodox methods as getting my hair dyed, going to the gym and eating fried strawberries. Fried strawberries are nice, especially on pork, but they do fall apart a bit quickly. Of course taking a couple of days off sick is also a coping mechanism, and one that comes highly recommended...

So, yeah, I did go to the gym, and came to the conclusion that The Commonwealth Pool is if anything slightly worse than Marco's. The gym is smaller and the machines are very close together. It's also got big windows onto the outside world so people can see you going all red in the face, and the music is blaringly loud, so I couldn't listen to the Pod.

The main reason I got pissed off though was that I couldn't have a shower, and I only realised this after doing 75 minutes CV exercise and feeling like I was about to die. They do indeed have showers, but you can only get in them if you're wearing a swimming costume, which I didn't bring since I don't swim. Grr. I will be trying to go to Marco's tonight where nudity isn't seen as inherently obscene. Plus it's cheaper.

Other good stuff I've done while I'm trying to think positively:
  1. Watched Shrek, which is funny and was just about as unchallenging as I needed

  2. Bought new Echo shoes in their sale, which means I can use my other Echo shoes as gym shoes, since they are a million times more comfortable than my tacky bargain store trainers

  3. Went to the library and got many CDs. *FX of iPod burping*

  4. Had the whole of Emmental visit my house at once, which is cool and shows that The Curse is lifting

  5. Visited Jon and listened to his new hi-fi, which rocks like a boat full of guys and dolls standing up, and also has glow-ey valves

  6. did another useful and scary thing which I shall detail more in a filtered post. But it was useful. And scary.

And I really appreciate having a Jon and a Sandy to cuddle when I feel as crap as I did, as well as a Pavlos who does great neck-rubs and skritchings.
