ducklofty (wnlulj*) I now have a 'new' computer wot is slightly newer, faster and more reliable than my old almost identical computer. So yay!
Getting it home also means that my arms are slightly longer than before :-(
Now I just have to wait to get the flat purchase sorted to see if I can afford an LCD TV. At the moment it seems that maybe, though the temptation to get a new kitchen and/or a hard drive TV solution is also strong.
I had to go to Glasgow today but I saw buzzards out of the train, which always cheers me up.

Blast from the past - and a belated Happy Birthday!
I hope you had a good birthday! You must be vaguely quite old now, though alas not as old as me. I liked reading that entry saying you were pretty happy these days, it was good to know. Somewhat to my surprise my 40s have been much happier than my 30s were, so far at least, and I'm looking to settle over here in the USA now that I have my foothold. Of course there are some notoriously ghastly things about the US these days, but up here in Michigan I'm a good distance from the Bush-loving Southern rightist fruitcakes and academic life is vastly better here in a dozen different ways. I even own a car! All I need to do now is learn how to drive it properly, having failed my test twice already.
Doubtless there's lots more to tell, but I ought to go now and polish off a journal paper that I'm writing, as well as get some marking done for my diligent young charges. Here's hoping to hear from you soon!
