I have been collecting more familiar names of birds and would be interested in more:

Mavis thrush (the song thrush)
Philip sparrow (which I take to be a house sparrow)
Isaac (the dunnock or hedge sparrow)
Jenny wren
Maggie magpie
Jack daw
Bran (crow)
Jacob (starling)
Tom tit (blue tit)
Robin, obviously
Pied and grey wagtails are Molly and Polly though which is which depends on what part of the country you're from

But the chaffinch is still Pink to me - I can't find any older names in spite of its being so common. And I like Pink.
