Some people are asking if the Solstice feast is on the proper Solstice. The answer is that daylight on the 21st and 22nd is the same length this year (at 6h 57m 29s, which is TOO DAMN SHORT), but that the astronomical Solstice, when the Sun reaches its furthest point from the equator, is at 22 minutes past Midnight on the 22nd. So yes, I have picked the right day. So ner.

It is possible that this is a geekier answer than they wanted. Tough

So why is it officially the 21st if it's actually the 22nd?

I have Flash disabled, so I don't know what this site has to say about the solstice...

Their blog (http://globalo.blogspot.com/2006/11/welcome-to-globalo-blog.html) is easier to read. They say the 22nd, but don't specify a time. Their count down widget counts down to 3pm on the 22nd, which isn't anything in particular, but there you go. I don't call it synchronised if you get a 24 hour window!
