Not the first day of the rest of my life *again*!
I am going to attempt to update a little more often, since, among other reasons, it will help me with my CBT (get your minds out of the gutter over there!) I feel I owe you lot some updates anyway, but be warned some of these could (if I even manage to do it) end up as lists of good/bad things or similar. So to liven things up there will be an opportunity for questions at the end of this post.
Meanwhile -
Good things
Yesterday I:
made it too work in spite of being off in the morning
got the stuff in Boots I needed
ate Boots sushi and low fat crisps and a Danone thing
invented a new and delicious soup - recipe to follow
painted and put shelves back up in the ongoing living room decoration
read a lot of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell
made dinner out of pasta and mushrooms and stuff
Today I:
ate porridge
took a bag of books to the charity shop
made my psychologists appointment
and walked both ways
and therefore had the morning off totally legitimately
bought a new filter to make the cafetiere work (at Grays of George Street, natch)
went out of the building at lunchtime
and bought a giant tub of Fairtrade coffee
and some veg to stir fry tonight
ate healthy soup and a wholemeal roll
Bad things
On Sunday I got so drunk that I couldn't come in on Monday morning. I am now Not Drinking for at least Sundays to Wednesdays and I have to work out how to drink a hell of a lot less when I do go out to pubs etc. The last couple of weeks I've been caning it and it's made me very depressed - no shit Sherlock
And now for your questions - if you have been patient thus far I will reward you by promising to answer the next five questions about my life and doings. Also if there are no questions I may cry.

I have some non alcoholic 'things' left over from Manchester last week, cannot promise they will help the whole getting up on a Monday!

I find it easier not to drink at all than to drink less on any given occasion down the pub. People can usually register "they're not drinking", and after the initial bother will happily get you a J2O or whatever in the round. But "I don't want to drink too much" is harder for people to process and seems to elicit "Oh go on, just one more" responses.
the next five questions about my life and doings
I'm probably over the limit now, and my first question (about the soup) has already been asked and answered. But if you want another: What's your all time favourite soup?

I think fave soup so far was either roasted garlic vichysoise or spicy pumpkin and coconut. Both are, naturally, slightly too creamy and high calorie for lunch :-(

The pigeons on Leith Walk - just the right height to break your ankle on
Yes. 9-11 August is all free right now. I want to go to Vaudeville on the 10th or 11th too, would you be up for that?

I recall that I had my previous one and the filtery bit (the big round bit on the stick that you push down) managed to get holes in it, and I couldn't find them sold seperately at a cheaper price than a whole new thing, glass jug and all.

Do you happen to know if there's anything apart from branding that makes a Vichyssoise entirely distinct from plain old cold leek-and-potato soup? I have an idea that Vichyssoise is supposed to have cream in, but don't know if that's the magic difference.
