I forgot my handbag today, so I guess I won't be spending any money. This was fine as I had fruit in my drawer and brought spicy squash and sweet potato soup and bread with me (and knitting, which I worked on over lunch) Tonight I shall be attempting green lentil soup with lemon to freeze for my lunches, doing a nice crispy stir fry for tea, knitting the last sleeve of my entrelac sweater and contemplating the hell that is making up, watching science shows and keeping the snow firmly outside the house. Just so you know.

Maybe later this week I will also do a giant chilli so I can freeze some for nights I have drumming and the like. Last night I ate the last frozen ready meal in my possession, and it minged mightily- I would really love never to buy any more...

I much prefer my own frozen meals to the supermarket ones - I tend to cook enough for 4 regardless of how many I'm cooking for (usually just myself, occasionally +1 guest) because then they go in little freezer bags and I have them another day. My next goal is to do them on the hob/in the oven instead of just bunging them in the microwave...

I only really use the microwave for defrosting stuff and re-heatng coffee, and occasionally for cooking vegetables without using much water...

I've gotten into the habit of using the microwave for reheating stuff, which I don't think is as justified as for defrosting. Oh, and the vegetables in my little steamer pot. And rice. I really oughtn't always cook rice in the microwave, particularly as often as I eat it. But it's definitely the least hassle and it doesn't seem to alter the texture... I guess part of me's taken on the job of being my mum and shouting at me about using microwaves :)

I read that about five times before I convinced myself that you weren't talking about some dreadful relationship-fixing conversation you were expecting to have with someone. Then suddenly it all became clear. *hangs head* Clearly it's too late for me to be still at work, and I should go home at once.
