That was a good weekend (of course the length of it helped...). I am told that my tendency to post only when I'm down is scaring people off (and reading some of my recent entries I can kind of see why), so in the interest of balance here is a run down of my good long weekend...

Thursday: Had stressful day at work (as ever) but came home to find [livejournal.com profile] lolliepopp had tidied the house! Slightly embarrassed woo! Felt strangely refreshed by the tidiness and the thought of a long weekend so managed to tidy my own room before eating an enormous Chinese takeaway and going out to K Jackson's to met Andrew and company. Drank much beer, had good chats, came home and chatted more. Fell over in a drunken heap.

Friday: Stayed in bed with Jon until just before [livejournal.com profile] nik_strychnine turned up on the doorstep, which was good timing. Then had breakfast and talking before heading out to buy shoes. Successfully bought comfy shoes with fancy stripes from Ecco without getting caught up on Princes Street and got home in time to see [livejournal.com profile] lilitufire, which was good. Decided to stay in with Jon rather than go to the pub again, as I had really drunk too much the night before. Farscape and beer ensued. And stuff. And bed.

Saturday: Another late start. Went shopping and managed to buy only one book (Justice Hall by Laurie King) and got a very useful jacket from Armstrongs for £12.50, which will be ideal for Torchbearing. Had a good burger and chips under permissible circumstances [1] in Bar Alba, which was only slightly marred by the arrival of a hen party at the same time as the food. Was going to have a quiet evening in by myself but at the last minute decided to join [livejournal.com profile] sibelian and [livejournal.com profile] lolliepopp in going to the Auld Hoose and met [livejournal.com profile] nik_strychnine, [livejournal.com profile] skx and [livejournal.com profile] skx's new hair, which I may have exclaimed a bit too loudly over. Also ran into [livejournal.com profile] lacuna_raze in a gorgeous furry coat [2] which was good as it's been a-ages Had a nice time without getting too drunk and discovered that they're having a dress up as a rabbit night next Friday. This I have to do, obviously. Didn't get too drunk, which was probably good.

Sunday: Did even more tidying and then [livejournal.com profile] calar came round to do her homework on my machine while I went to Torchbearing. We made torches out of wood and cloth and stuff, and took one and lit it on the Meadows, which reassured me a lot - actually getting to play with fire makes it seem much more real. It's also great doing real work since there's a lot to do and there's only so much team bonding a person can take :-) Then I started drinking. It began with Steve and Phil in Berlington Berties, then we were joined by Jon at the Blue Blazer which was a having a beers-called-after-mountains special, whcih was a bit odd. Sampled various ales, and got plastered even though we were on halves so we could try everything. Then went back to mine with Jon and drank vodka. Had a very pleasant and useful talk which by a miracle we can both remember.

Sunday: After recovering from the hangover we went to Lidl and got completely blown away by the cheapness of it. I got two big bags from £13 including steak, Bratwurst, sundried tomatoes, tiramisu and a huge hunk of parmesan. [livejournal.com profile] sibelian went for cheaper things and did even better. And he got a chicken and made me and [livejournal.com profile] lolliepopp a roast supper which was awesome. Yet more Farscape happened and I didn't drink at all.

[1] The rule is I can eat chips only if I am eating out with someone else and the order chips with no prompting from me.
[2] But she swore blind she had knickers on :-(

Yeah, I went to Lidl yesterday, and discovered two things- the prices are so low that you wind up buying huge amounts of wierd stuff, then you try to fit into one of their bags, and it bursts on the street outside... 8(

Nest time I'll take a rucksack...
