I had a pretty productive weekend, overall, but I'm slightly stunned by how long it takes to get all the software I need onto the new computer. I've now pretty much purged my view of Dell and MS icons, got Firebird and Thunderbird on it, got Semagic and a dictionary, Editpad, most of my old files, Flash, Acrobat etc etc, and sorted out the stupid treo problem that was preventing it from syncing (thanks Paul). What I haven't done is get my mail working with Thunderbird, which is puzzling me as I seem to have all the same settings as I had on Mozilla mail in the old machine. Will look at it again tonight.
This week I have an incredible number of essential things to do, including going to the landlord's with the new lease and rent, paying bills, arranging to get a computer desk, making Doctor's and dentist's appointments, Ikea visitage and finishing setting up the new machine (which is currently called Lilliput, but I'm thinking of changing it to Lindalino whikle I can since the network doesn't work yet anyway). At the moment I feel somewhat scared of my to do list, but not actually swamped, so now would be a good time to tackle it, I suppose.

Things are never essential, once there's over five of them.
