The party was delightful and for the first time ever I outlasted almost everybody including Andrew Wilson. I thank CJ for that. I probably also have that to blame for this cold, which is making me feel like poo on toast :-(

Does anyone know what I can do with a lot of lemons and limes? Apart from throw them at people, which has been tried... Perhaps if I could borrow an icecream maker I could make sorbet.

Now I will probably go to bed. With some kind of citrus and honey concoction, I think.

If you've got a liquidiser, we've got a recipie for fresh lemonade. It doesn't work with limes though.

Hot black tea with lemon, honey and a bit of whisky. It might help the cold and you will care less.

It was an absolutely great party, thanks - I realised that the strange feeling I was having on the way back from the Hearts/Hibs game was the onset of sobriety....

Thing to do with leftover limes as you can't make lemonade with them: get mint leaves, rum, and make more mojitos (one of the several nice toothpasty cocktails what were wandering about)

Dissolve some sugar (the less-refined the better) in gently-heated water, add lime juice, top up with water or soda water. You can make up a batch of the concentrate and keep it in the fridge, pouring some out and diluting it as-and-when. Oh ... here's a recipe from Madhur Jaffrey:

5 tbs freshly squeezed lime juice
4 tbs sugar
1/4 - 1/2 finely grated fresh ginger

Mix the lime juice and sugar in a small bowl. Put the grated ginger in a small strainer and lower the bottom of the strainer into the sweetened lime juice. Stir the ginger around with a spoon and press it's juice out; discard any remaining ginger pulp. Pour the ginger flavour lime concentrate into a tall glass, add water and ice cubes.
