I used to be the sort of person who crawled out of bed at the last minute, threw on some clothes and caught a bus because I was late for work. It's recently been drawn to my attention that this is no longer the case, and I am obscurely proud of this. I have recently taken to setting my alarm for 7.30 instead of 8.00, which means I get up before 8.00 instead of nearly-half-past. (London commuters may now gnash their teeth.) This gives me time to:
All this ties in with my new attempts to get more exercise. If I walk both ways to work that's two miles a day, and I've been making a point of walking at the weekend as well. This Saturday I walked to Morningside to pay the rent (and got a taxi back with shopping), and then to Howe Street and back in the evening. Sunday I walked to Cannonmills to view a house, got a bus to Tollcross to see another and walked back. This may change when the weather gets worse, but at the monet it's OK when it's dry.
Well, that was dull. I shall spare you my diet updates (I have a diet filter if you really want to know), but that's going Ok as well. I feel deeply virtuous.
- Wash and go to the loo
- Weigh myself
- Make a cup of coffee
- Dress
- Put in contact lenses
- Moisturise (hey, I'm getting old here)
- Check I've got everything in my bag, including household paperwork I need to deal with in office hours
- Put on shoes and coat, find hat and gloves if necessary
- Walk to work, going through Princes Street Gardens to provide quietness and extra stairs
- Buy diet coke and something for breakfast (today it was a packet of caramel Snackajacks) and...
- Get to work in time to eat it and check Lj before anyone starts bugging me.

It seems like ages since I've seen you - when would be a good time to drop in for a cup of tea and a chat on my way home?
Age
You? Old? I don't think so.
You may be old in the "When I am old, I shall wear purple" way, but you still, after nearly ten years of knowing you, strike me as somebody very much alive, and young at heart.
