I am very, VERY angry.

My words from Ian's friends locked post about BiCon have been taken and pasted unattributed into a public Web page, all mixed up with other people's comments, all of them left in the first person. Some of my comments were about specific groups and made in a context where I knew those people wouldn't see them.

This has been done allegedly as part of a BiCon resource pack which was agreed on at the final plenary this year (which I wasn't at). Well, if you want my opinion about how to run a BiCon, you are welcome to it, but you have to actually ASK me. Otherwise BACK THE FUCK OFF.

I guess I was right that this resource pack is just another way of giving the perennial bandwidth thieves with the wooden spoons something to do.

I voted against the resource thingy but the frustrating thing was that almost no one got to speak - the idea seemed to be that if you wanted to say anything, you should have gone to the proposal workshop. I wasn't impressed, it struck me as a meddlers charter.

IIRC, the resource thingy was not voted on, thankfully.

No, it definitely passed[1], without any explanation of such phrases as 'interested parties' or exactly what previous Bicon organisers were expected to provide in addition to their traditional report/accounts. There was another one that was put off but I can't remember the details.

[1]I seem to remember the vote was pretty close, though - anyone got any idea if the details have been posted anywhere yet?

She's deleted both our comments to the post in bicon (and made it 'no comments allowed') and the formerly public entry in her journal is now no longer visible to me.

I think she's going 'ooops', but I wouldn't bet money on it.

I think so too (http://www.bi-women.info/bipages/hub.php).

that looks more like taking her ball and going home than saying 'oops, sorry' to me...

Well yeah, but as long as the material is removed I don't actually mind too much about the tone of voice...

The oops stage often comes a while before the sorry.

That went hours ago - I never saw it there, and I think I looked before posting any comments to her.

Was any of it attributed?

No.

Am going to ask Simon D to get the minutes of the plenary written up so we can check exactly what was agreed. IIRC we didn't really do into details of *how* vampwillow was going to get material for the resource centre, but I for one certainly wasn't expecting her to a) take text from friends-only posts without asking and b) not apologise for doing so.

I noticed she said your post was already up on a US site somewhere - do you know where?

It was at http://www.biconf.org/handbook/ but Tom said 'sorry' (lots of times) when the non-public nature of the post was pointed out to him in email and it's not there now.

No, [livejournal.com profile] vampwillow said that she didn't attribute any of the content as a deliberate info dump - i.e using ideas and then rewriting them up. Damn I wish I had had a copy of all that so i could go back and check her exact wording (Don't wanna misrepresent anyone here)

Of course that was the other half of the problem after using content from Friends-Only LJ posts; that people's comments were pasted in a unformatted block of text. I only knew what it was cos I saw yours, Alison's and my word's staring back at me. I didn't mind so much, but that was before I realised/remembered your post was Friends Only.

eeep ;(

...and also deleting her journal and leaving LJ entirely, from the looks of it. Although that's for unrelated reasons, according to the final public post.

I hadn't realised that Ian's post was Friends-Only when I first saw [livejournal.com profile] vampwillow's infobank, but yes eeek.
