Police may face drug tests

On the one hand this is as much of a breach of their civil liberties as it would be of anyone else's

On the other hand, GOOD, maybe that will discourage some of the stupid feckers I know who think it's OK to join the police just because they know some hypocritical drug taking police officers.

I see what you mean about discouraging those who think they can join the police force because they know police officers who break the law. I wonder though if this will be seen as a very public affirmation that it's okay for any company to drug test their employees - this worries me.

Well I agree with you in principle. The only jobs which ought to have the right to do random drug testing are things like airline pilots, really.

I had to get tested to work at Target (http://www.target.com/gp/browse.html/602-8179470-1371055?node=1038576). And tested again when I got in an accident. The school I go to does random drug testing... Its out of control.
