Things I have learnt today

  1. That I can get a good night's sleep with the aid of earplugs.

  2. That it is, however, hard to then hear the alarm in the morning.

  3. That Safeway's sushi is nicer than that of either Pret or Boots.

  4. That half price things in Monsoon are still twice as much as I'm prepared to pay.

  5. And that apparently it is possible to pay £59 for a pair of tights.

I dread to think what those tights must be made of!

:: wonders if there is a market for dissolving / vanishing earplugs that evaporate or something like that after six hours leaving no residue ::

I used to wear earplugs every night due to 24 hour techno head drug dealers thundering about at several bpm below me (old flat).

I had three alarms though.

Monsoon *is* over priced. 59 quid for tights eh ? *boggles*

As someone who is deaf I use a vibrating alarm clock, or a light on one of those timer switches. I know they might be annoying solutions, but the light one is cheap... My good vibrating alarm clock cost about 18 quid from rnid.

A thought.

Back at my flat in Dundee I always go to sleep with earplugs in, Perth Road at night with single-glazing is too full of distractions.

I've been slowly working through the pile of packets I took away with me during my time at the Whisky Bottling Factory.

They're connected together with a blue plastic cord, so they usually get yanked out of my ears while I'm asleep, by which time I don't mind the traffic so much.

I also have a quite piercing alarm-clock.

No, it doesn't really pierce me.

Although that probably would wake me up.

£59 for tights?
What were they, woven from silk from caterpillars fed exclusively on beluga caviar and Champagne, with a diamond-studded gusset lined with the fur of an endangered species of snow leopard?

I think a diamond studded gusset might be a bit uncomfortable, unless you're kinky that way...

No, these tights were in Jenners, and just designer ones with seams and bows and stuff on them. They scared me.

1. A friend of mine uses them every night. As you might expect, she can't hear a thing. Convenient if you are a guest there.

2. See! :-)

3. Pret went downhill ages ago. M&S is also good.
