I'm trying out iJournal, since I just lost a load of stuff when Safari crashed.
So, um. I don't know if I can be arsed writing everything out again, but the weekend essentially rocked.
Friday I dashed around buying stuff from Maplin and a DVD player from Richer Sounds, which is very slim and silver and cool. I also got the first season of Randall and Hopkirk (the Reeves and Mortimer version), which was going for a tenner in Avalanche, so that I'd have a DVD to test it on. DVD is cool. Especially after we'd worked out why it wasn't playing the dialogue (because it was trying to send it to a non-existant central speaker).
kisin came round and helped me get the new beige box to see the internet and then watched DVD with me and Rachael and
keyeto. Beige box is now called Brobdingnag, because it's jolly big.
On Saturday me and
sibelian did loads of cleaning and tidying and putting pictures on the walls and panicing about whether anyone would come to our party. The party acted as a good incentive to actually finish finding homes for stuff, and I feel my room is 100% sorted now.
ciphergoth turned up at 7.30 and we faffed about getting pizza and insane amounts of beer for a bit, and then the guests started. Many, MANY people came whose LJ names I shall not attempt to list. The biggest and best surprise was that our old friend Zbish turned up. We haven't seen him for literally years and had thought he was living in Germany. Apparently he's now in Liverpool, which is a wee bit handier. There was much speaking when he walked in, as
sibelian had mailed him, but had no reply, so we didn't think the mail had got through. All in all it was an excellent party, and Laputa is an excellent party flat - we shall definitley be going for a repeat soon.
Sunday started earlier than I'd like due to loud 70's classics playing under my window at 10am. I am not actually opposed to The Doors or Velvet Underground in moderation, but this was crazy. We got up very grumpily and eventually got it together to go to Mir, where we all put in loads of work and made the place fucking spotless. I did bathrooms and
ciphergoth got down on his knees and swabbed skirting board and
keyeto mopped floors and
sibelian was a particular star and cleaned the kitchen in a totally obsessive way - I've never seen it so clean, even when we moved in.
We finished at 9pm and were fucking knackered, so we all went back to Laputa for beer and Animatrix DVDs and Mexican takeaway (don't buy Mexican from Rush Hour - it's a complete rip off).
And now Mir is on the market.
ciphergoth signed the deal with the soliciters yesterday, and I've just proofed the text for the schedule. Offers over £130,000, in case anyone out there wants a spotless three bedroom flat imbued with the spirit of us lot...
