Yes, I'm feeling much better today, thanks for asking. Just posted the cheque for the corset and I am actually looking forward to receiving it - just a little nervous as it's my first ebay purchase...

A few random queries:-

  1. Can anyone remember the full explanation of the 'someone likes you' scam for [livejournal.com profile] mister_ed?
  2. I'm still looking for a website containing excuses to celebrate every day of the year - I'm sure it used to exist.
  3. What's a good and cheapish place for lunch at the west end of Princes Street? It has to have good veggie options (and Halal would be great but unlikely).
  4. Does anyone know where I can get Chinese silk like this, in the UK. Or anything with the longevity symbol, preferably in red or purple?

I really really need to get the hell out of this job. Really. But I don't know how. Hell, it's the first and only job I ever managed to get in my life and I don't know if I should do it again, never mind how. And I don't really know what I want to do - there's not a lot of call for people who do exactly what I do.

So what I want is for people to tell me what sort of job I should do. Tell me if you know of any good vacancies in charities, administration, events organisation, whatever, but also tell me what you think I might be able to do from what you know of me, or how one goes about getting into jobs in further education, adult education, universities, the Council. I need help here - before I go quite quite mad.

Been browsing for corsets (I blame [livejournal.com profile] mortice) and found this dress which [livejournal.com profile] ciphergoth really, really needs... Cyber Geisha Corset Kimono - yum.

Now, what I was really looking for is a corset that can cope with my hips being much bigger than my waist - anyone got any ideas?

It's fifty minutes till I can go home and I feel weird and bored and lonely. I'd welcome followups of any kind to reassure me that I (and you) exist.

I'm like a mirror, I'm nothing till you look at me... Apt.

So tell me what you're doing, what you're doing later, what you're having for tea, what's your favourite reptile - anything!

A few geeky queries, possibly stupid:-

Does anyone know of a good application for separating the bits of an animated Gif. Or is there some feature in Photoshop for doing it that I'm stupidly missing? I want to make my jumping rabbits icon into mood icons, but I need to get at all the frames first!

What do I need apart from a CD writer and a sound card to burn my vinyl onto CD under Windows. I have successfully copied and compiled CDs but the software that comes with my burner is only for burning/compiling files that already exist digitally. (My hi-fi is near my computer and I have the lead to get sound from one to the other.)

Where can I buy a USB to serial converter so I can back my Palm up without having to fix the serial ports on this bloody machine. Will this work? If so could I use the same thing to sync it to the pretty new iMac at work?

Does anyone have an easy way for me to turn the pics from my snazzy new digital camera into an online gallery? Paul does his in a totally arcane and Paul-specific way that we both know it would be futile for him to try to share with me. So far I've just managed to get them in a folder and turn them the right way up...

Am I so crap at being a geek that I should give up altogether? And if so how will I cope with the 21st century. Answers on the back of a five and a quarter inch floppy disc to the usual address...

Apologies for saying all this is baby talk - it's the only way I know to be sure I understand..

Hurrah for more Van Wotsisface gloating! [livejournal.com profile] zotz is right - it can improve the dullest of days...

As can looking for boots. Can anyone tell me where I can find a full list of kinds of New Rocks? And/or is there a way of finding out whether any giant platforms boots will fit my rather thick ankles before buying them? I did exercise in my lunch break today (climbing up and down stairs for ages) but it's going to take a while to take effect, if it ever does.

And have I mentioned that this is my favourite song ever?

Bugger. My LJ now looks totally shite. That's what you get for dicking around with colours when you should be working and don't have enough neurons free to devote to the problem.

If anyone has any nice darkish or purplish colour schemes they'd like to share with me I'd be delighted - otherwise this may take some time. And hey, if you want to share your favourite overides while you're at it, do. I still don't understand any of this.

Watched Dark City last night, which was absolutely fab but spectacularly failed the Dykes To Watch Out For movie test. Have been wondering how many recent films pass it, and whether many of us have favourites which fail. I know Attack of the Clones passes, and all the Jurassic park films fail as far as I can recall, but do people have some other examples? And are arty movies worse offenders than blockbusters,or not (Warm Water Under a Red Bridge passes, but a lot of my other favourites don't).

The test is that the film must have
(1) at least two women characters
(2) who talk to each other in the course of the movie
(3) about something other than men.
