Eleven years later still don't know any better

Here is the best songs of my life poll Part the Second. If you haven't already, go fill in Part the First from 1966 to 1976 - don't worry you don't need a suggestion for every single year...

[Poll #824693]

I'm enjoying this one far too much... Just not thinking too much or I have arguments with myself...

I'll get back to you on all this. The fact that I haven't answered doesn't mean I don't intend to.

Of course, I ought to have realised I'd find this impossible. But I've done my best. :) I know I won't line up with you on any of this.

*reads your answers* You are correct about 'I'm In Love With A German Filmstar', I didn't think of that. I like 'A Subway Called "You"' better, but I think 'I'm In Love' is the better pop song.

I don't think you'll actually hate me for any of the answers I've given though. :) If I've listed anything you don't know (unlikely, but possible I suppose) I shall upload whatever it is, of course. xxx

Well I don't actually have The Black Hit Of Space or Hiroshima Mon Amour on CD, so I may take you up on that...

The Black Hit Of Space - The Human League (http://download.yousendit.com/8B00FC8F4A1989B8)
Hiroshima Mon Amour - Ultravox! (http://download.yousendit.com/AC08A3A35EEDE94A)

You're a star! And isn't The Black hit of Space *silly*?

[identity profile] duranorak.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It is, but I still think it's musically pretty brilliant, especially the huge unexpected whoosh of sound after the few opening bars. Particularly for the late 70s.

Ooh, hard.

Why are all the best songs released in the same years? And why is 1984 so pants (George Orwell novel notwithstanding).

Because....

[identity profile] ergotia.livejournal.com 2006-09-19 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
....that was the year David Bowie released "Let's Dance" and the universe went dark and silent in horror and despair :)

There is a smiley, but I am not really joking.

I also blame Band Aid. Though 99 Red Balloons was that year, so all is not lost...

Also New Model Army's 'Vengeance', which I found while looking for something for your 1980s - 90s poll. For some reason I had been convinced that was released much later.

.. particularly as because in the years before those charts go to 11, erm, 50, it's like punk never 'appened.
