Good Friday arrived, the sky darkened on time

Yes, it's Friday 13th and it's been dark all day. It's the end times. Or maybe January, which is almost the same thing.

So what's been going on in the world of my giant brain? Last night I dreamt about Rocky Horror and Time Curry was refusing to go on for his "Don't dream it, be it" number because he hadn't had his funding from the Arts Council.

While I was walking to work I was thinking about whether to buy solar panels for all the businesses around me with the infinite amount of money that I was wishing for. And then I thought it would just save them money which they'd spend on other world destroying things, so I should give them to individuals instead. Or maybe the council.

And then I saw a penny on the pavement and it occurred to me that, quite apart from the issue of inflation, the people in the fountains won't be accepting pennies for wishes anymore because they have iron in them these days.

Just think, if I wasn't so easily distracted I could have saved the world by now.

But doesn't Islam traditionally ban things made to look like living things?

ION: my new bunny icon still makes me happy.

iTunes

They do seem to add many new features in a point release. It's really sneeky as well; due to there being security fixes in the lastest version of iTunes (and quick time).

I too was under the impression that a 3D image of a person or animal was forbidden in Islam.

I think this has varied over the years and depending on interpretation. In Turkish art for example there are periods where animal designs were used and other periods where they were not.

I thinkit more to do with idolatry and suchlike. It very much depends on how strict they are.

What happened to the old days of Arabia, when women wore purple transparent veils and and were considered the most attractive people in the known world?

And yes, I do get all my Arabic history from playing Prince of Persia.

And I thought nuclear power stations were designed to not blow up when planes crashed into them. This was very much a part of the design specifications.

You don't actually see it explode, it cuts just before the plane hits...

I think it actually bounces off, unharmed, with a loud *boink*.
That's what happens next.

*everyone* knows that planes don't go "boink" when they bounce of a power station....

They go *twank*...

At least they do down my way.

Muslims vary in strictness, much as Jews and Christians do. I came across one Muslim site recently which exhorted the faithful not to use smileys on the grounds that they were representations of animate objects!

I find it more interesting to ask why there is no 13th floor in short buildings.

Who are you?
