So after not sleeping and dragging myself out at inhuman o'clock this morning I discovered, with the help of the nurse at my GP's, that ambulatory BP cuffs don't get readings from me reliably. Hence I will NOT be being kept awake by a 24 hour monitoring tonght, cos they are stuck and don't know what to do next (having tried every machine they have and gt either errors or contradictory readings). The nurse suggested a wrist cuff. Or rather she suggested that I BUY a wrist cuff, since the practice can't buy it.
The local Boots has them for £82 but I feel really reluctant and annoyed about forking out for it myself. Don't we have an NHS dammit? If they bought one for the surgery it could benefit other fat people, people with sore/odd shaped arms, people with lymph node problems and those who've had mastectomies. In short - Grrr
