I seen an Eider duck! In fact a whole little family, but if I hadn't seen the male I would have assumed the female was a mallard, though looking closer she had a triangular head and the ducklings were nearly black rather than prettily striped. Still - ducks!
This is because yesterday I walked from Beaverhall Road down the Water of Leith and then turn up Trinity Path and all of a sudden I was at the Forth. It was a lovely evening and I *think* I also saw a cormorant, but it was a bit far away and even though it was the right shape it didn't do the classic cormorant-drying-its-wings pose, so am not sure. I'm looking forward to going to Arran at the end of the months where there are allegedly more different seabirds (plus I could really use a holiday)
Also this makes seven days in a row when I've walked at least a couple of miles. I don't know what it counts for as exercise, since a lot of it was walking very slowly and appreciating stuff but it surely made me a lot happier.
