One thing that BiCon returnees haven't mentioned yet - is there going to be another one? Do we know yet?

Glasgow volunteered for 2006. Mark and Jean (now called Emily, I believe) may be sorting something out for 2005, out West somewhere, but they stressed that it wasn't definite.

David M is organising a one-day event in London early next year, probably called Bifest again.

I believe Marcus and some of us are planning to do 2008, which will be an International Bicon as well.

I was just saying the solution to the edinburgh and august/festival problem was Glasgow, I'm glad the Glasgow group agreed :)

I'll be at WorldCon next year, so I'm glad they decided to wait.

Yes, though of course BiCon doesn't have to be on the (English) Bank Holiday - it used to change date much more than it has recently...

Although I hadn't mentioned this in public, only to selected people I wanted to talk to about it. (c;

Word gets around. Admittedly I mentioned it to a couple of people, like [livejournal.com profile] barakta and Grant, but I was (un)surprised at the number of people that seemed to have heard about it.

It didn't get mentioned at the closing plenary, though, which is probably just as well, because if there's such a thing as being over-organised, knowing who's going to run the BiCon four years from now is almost certainly it...

I think it's a bit in the balance.
J and M (who did Diana death Bicon) made an offer but I think they were awaiting offers from other people also

Yes and yes.

Glasgow have provisionally bagged 2006. They really didn't want to do 2005, as it's WorldCon.

2005 will be run by Mark and Eleanor (sp? - used to be Jean), with help from [livejournal.com profile] mjwin and others who had, I gather, left before the closing plenary. It will be somewhere in the west, possibly Wales. I get the impression that they'd have been quite happy for someone else to step forward, but no one did.

Glasgow are right to avoid 2005 - and I certainly intend to be at WorldCon. Wales would certainly make a change for BiCon, but most of it's a bugger to get to from here...

They were muttering about Bristol or West Midlands/Birmingham, which would be feasible for most to get to and a change.

What is a worldcon?

Huge science fiction convention which will take up all of Glasgow, apparently.

I'm going to be in Glasgow around the time of Worldcon, too, to see an online friend who's going. Shan't be registering for the con itself, but shall try to remember to ask you nearer the time if you want to meet up for coffee or hot chocolate or other nice beverage :-)
